A Telford grandmother, who loves bingo, and turns 72 next week, received an early birthday present of more than £20,000. The winner, who doesn’t want to be named, won a £20,619 prize at the Mecca Bingo Club in Telford.

“I have been playing for years and go at least four times a week, occasionally with my daughter with whom I live.” She said.

“My previous biggest win was £1,000, but I never dreamed I would get anything like this much.”

She was playing in a National bingo game called Afternoon Delight, when she hit it lucky completing a full house in 46 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 500 clubs playing nationwide.

The woman, who was widowed 12 years ago, has four children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also added that she will look after the children with the money and carry on playing bingo.
